The Adventure Begins!

The W Hotel in Times Square overlooks the neon lights of the Broadway district.   Walking into the entry of the hotel is reminiscent of a futuristic movie as  the lights and water falling from the walls and glass ceiling  give the feeling of entering a new dimension.

Staying in a glass and mirrored room high above the lively district below takes some getting used to as the world is as much awake at 2 AM as it is at 6 PM in Scottsdale.   Sirens screaming and horns honking throughout the night give us the true flavor of being in the heart of this great city, but it would be nice if there was a way to shut the impatient energy out of our room.   Looking out our window, two eight story bottles of Corona are two of the most prominent features of our view.  Not that I'm bothered by any of it, however.   One should experience staying a night or two above Times Square for a true feeling of New York.

The Natural History Museum was truly phenomenal, as far as museums go.  Dan and I loved the History of the Universe exhibit as we got to experience the unfolding of the Universe from the Big Bang all the way to the present.  In a walkway that was the length of a football field, all of human history was represented by the width of a human hair.

We spent most of the day there, and still didn't scratch the surface.  We whizzed through the Hall of Vertebrates where we saw skeletons of many different dinosaurs (including, of course, T. Rex and Apatosaurus).  We hope to have the time to go back before we leave and spend more time there and also see a special exhibit they have on The Horse.

Tonight we're going to a play, November, with Nathan Lane.  He portrays a bumbling president who isn't expected to get re-elected, so dirty tricks ensue to help him get re-elected.  No resemblance to actual events, of course.
